I was born in Farley |House, Farnborough Hants on the 14th November 1955. I attended South Farnborough County Infant School and then South Farnborough County Junior School before moving up to Holbeach Lincs in May 1967 with my parents and younger sister Julie. Following a short 6 week stint at Holbeach Junior School, I started at The George Farmer Secondary Modern School in September 1967, and stayed for 5 yers before leaving at the age of 16 in July 1972.

I was awarded an agricultural apprenticeship and went to work for T.H Charlton and Son for 3 years, attending Holbeach Agricultural College for 1 day a week during the 3 years.

On completion of the apprenticeship, I worked for a short time at Reg Chapman and Sons of Holbeach in their potato and carrot pre-pack factory until I was offered a job as a dragline driver in May 1976 at South Holland Internal Drainage Board. I stayed with the Board until September 1977 when I went to work for my future Father-in Law at Robinson Brothers at Whaplode.

I worked on the farm until I became a partner in 1996, but in 2000 we made the decision to sell the business and I went to work for J Ellis and Sons as an office manager and web designer. In June 2001 I took a similar post with Gee Tee Garden Products until May 2003 when I was made redundant. I then spent three and a half years with the Food and Drink Forum as a Project Manager before taking my current role as Economic Development Officer with South Holland District Council in September 2006.

I married Gillian in May 2007, I live in the same house that I have lived in since 1979, and we have 2 dogs Poppy and Oscar.

My interests include boating, Drag racing and Freemasonry, being a member of Alexandra Lodge 985.
